LOCATION: North-east of Ferdosi and Jomhuri St junction, Tehran

YEAR: 2017

CLIENT: Mostazaafan Relief foundation

PROJECT AREA: 32000

STATUS: Plasco building collapse, firemen devotion and the happenings that follow them are the historical events that has remained in every citizen and Iranian‘s mind. This event reminds us of a huge loss and absence: lack of good management, lack of supervision, lack of control and finally lack of the lives of brave men who died to survive others. These absences are so meaningful, and even more meaningful than the existence. These losses are self-awareness and self-reminder. For this purpose, the new building is better not to be a new MASS that buries all these memories but to be NOTHING to revive them. This building should reminds us of all these losses. So the main mass of the new building is the outcome and product of clearing the place of the collapsed building. As if the collapsed building mass is subtracted from the new building volume and it always reminds us of that. The empty space is used as an urban plaza. This humanistic place would be a useful place in a high density urban region. This plaza is connected to the upper street (Taheri street) and has created a pedestrian-oriented area. Ground floors are dedicated to the commercial units, exhibitions and social activities and the upper levels are respectively commercial units and administrative units. Gardens in the levels are considered as the green spaces oriented to the urban plaza and has been dedicated to restaurants and cafeterias. The users can access parking lots in underground levels via the dead end connected to the west of the ground.
